Professional Experience

A professional educator and technology leader, Nancy Caramanico has worked in elementary and secondary schools as well as universities in the Philadelphia area for more than two decades.

As a teacher and technology coordinator with a focus on school-wide implementation and staff development, Nancy has served in several high-profile professional roles including as Director of Technology for K-12 education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In this role, she oversaw technology curriculum and classroom implementation for more than 200 schools and 5,000 teachers and administrators as well as spearheaded the creation of the Archdiocese’s Virtual Academy, which was its first online professional development technology initiative. This program saw more than 1,000 teachers and administrators attend webinars on new uses of innovative technology in its first year.

Following her role with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Nancy emerged as a sought-after technology consultant, working with educational institutions and non-profits in their use of new technology, social media and digital media to support organizational goals. In 2014-2015, Nancy served as the Digital Content Manager for the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 (WMOF) and the associated two-day visit of Pope Francis.

Collaborating with a small team to create social media and website content as well as statistical reporting in support of marketing, communications and public relations initiatives, Nancy’s work produced consistent digital engagement in the months leading up to the event and ultimately delivered 1.19 billion social media impressions and 1.2 million website visits during the seven days of WMOF and Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia.

Since WMOF and the Papal Visit, Nancy has returned to her work as an instructional technology consultant for schools and organizations while presenting nationally on various topics, including digital citizenship, educational technology leadership and leveraging social media for teaching, learning and building school community. Nancy also serves on the educational planning team for the Center for Leadership at Neumann University and coordinates a weekly online Twitter chat for educators nationwide, #CatholicEdChat, which is in its sixth year.

With a master’s degree from Saint Joseph's University in Educational Instructional Technology and a Distance Learning Certification from Teacher's College at Columbia University, Nancy is a state certified Level II Instructional Technology Specialist. She serves on the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) Marketing Advisory Council, the Foundation for Catholic Education and the Acer Educational Technology Advisory Council.
